Coordinator team Library Systems in Maastricht

Are you the driving force who, together with an enthusiastic team, ensures that the systems that are crucial for the scientific information provision of the Maastricht University Library function well and continue to develop in this digital age? And do you want to contribute to enabling our students, researchers and teaching staff to continue to make the best possible impact within the academic world? Then read on quickly.

Job Description

“Supporting your academic goals". That is what we do at Maastricht University Library. Providing academic information is our core task to support these goals. A well-functioning library system, websites and other applications and tools are crucial for this.

The digitalization of library services requires smart, scalable and well-integrated systems. Students and employees expect that information relevant to them is always available in a safe, reliable and user-friendly way. That is why we are looking for a connecting and analytical Library Systems Coordinator – someone who brings together technology, user-friendliness and practical needs.

In this role, you are responsible for the development and management of crucial systems, such as the library system, websites and various tools to support research, education and business operations. You work at the intersection of functional requirements, technical feasibility and strategic goals. Together with developers, administrators and stakeholders, you translate user needs into workable solutions and ensure continuous improvement of our digital services. You are the link between technology and practice, and actively contribute to a future-proof, data-driven Library.

What will you do specifically?

  • You will fulfil the role of product owner for our library system Worldshare and the associated Worldshare Management System (WMS). You will ensure that the system is well managed and continuously meets the wishes and needs of users (both colleagues within the Library and UM students and employees).
  • Maintain contact with suppliers and colleagues at other university libraries to stay informed of the latest developments and identify opportunities, but also to identify issues and work together towards solutions.
  • Inventory and analyze malfunctioning or inefficient processes in the digital facilitation of scientific information provision and propose a solution for this.
  • Ensure that the library system and related systems comply with security and privacy guidelines. You do this in collaboration with the information manager (also your manager), privacy and security officer.
  • Ensure that the information from these systems can be used optimally to support data-driven decisions.
  • Provide substantive management to the Library Systems team. This includes: 1.) ensuring coordination between functional management, application management, software development and local IT support; 2.) creating a plan in coordination with the Library’s development agenda and ensuring active contributions from the team to that plan; 3.) coordination of participation of colleagues from the Library Systems team in current and new Library projects; 4.) coordinating ongoing maintenance of the systems managed by Library Systems (SaaS and self-developed) and the infrastructure used by maintaining an overview of systems and applications and the technical infrastructure used.

  • HBO/WO work and thinking level;
  • a good command of the Dutch and English language and strong interpersonal skills. Language training can be provided where necessary;
