Student Communication Coordinator - Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience

Our goal: As Student Communication Coordinator, you are responsible for coordinating, aligning, and strengthening university-wide, faculty-level, and programme-related communication for current students. You act as the primary point of contact for student communication within the faculty and ensure that students receive clear, timely, and coherent information throughout their educational journey, across programmes, departments, and organisational levels.

Your colleagues: This role is formally positioned under the M&C team, reporting to its team lead, while working closely with the Education Office and academic staff to ensure seamless collaboration across units. You also work closely with the Student Communications Officer of the FPN Education Office, who supports the tactical and operational delivery of student communication. The Marketing and Communication (M&C) team of FPN consists of 7 team members.

Operating at the intersection of education, policy, and communication, you collaborate with the Vice Dean of Education, Education Director, Faculty Director, policy advisers, student representatives, programme and course coordinators, and the Education Office and M&C team and their team leads. You advise on communication approaches, translate educational and organisational developments into clear strategies, and ensure consistent execution across channels.

As a member of the student communication core team, you also collaborate with other Student Communication Coordinators in the faculties, University Library and Student Service Centre and the Student Communication Lead at the central M&C level, sharing responsibility and a mutual communication mandate with the content owner(s).

You act as a central connector: maintaining oversight, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring that communication efforts are well-coordinated, coherent, and effective.

What you do

• Acting as the central FPN coordinator (primary point of contact) for all non-course-related, UM-wide, faculty-level, and programme-related communication for current FPN students.
• Advising directors and educational leadership on communication strategies, timing, and approach related to educational and organisational topics.
• Developing, coordinating, and monitoring communication plans, ensuring alignment with faculty and university priorities.
• Informing, briefing, and aligning all relevant actors involved in student communication, and reporting progress and outcomes to stakeholders.
• Ensuring consistent and accessible messaging across a wide range of communication channels, and independently publishing content where appropriate.
• Creating manuals, protocols, and guides for students and staff to facilitate communication and engagement.
• Supporting the faculty’s student introduction and onboarding, ensuring information is clearly structured and accessible.
• Coaching and training colleagues on communication skills and developing supporting materials.
• Orchestrating, streamlining, and planning communication activities across teams, programmes, and organisational levels.
• Monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the effectiveness of student communication, using insights to continuously improve impact.
• Collaborating closely with content owners, sharing ownership and responsibility for student communication.
• Collaborating closely with the Student Communications Officer, ensuring alignment between strategic coordination and operational execution.
• Participating as an active member of the university-wide network of Student Communication Coordinators and the central Lead (‘Kernteam Studentcommunicatie’), contributing to alignment, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives.

• Flexible mindset: work hours are scheduled weekly based on what is needed (e.g., participation in the student communication core team); 16 hours per week, preferably spread over 3 or 4 days.
• Educational background: HBO or Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Strategic Communication, Education, or a closely related field, preferably with a focus on organisational or strategic communication;
• Result-oriented: able to achieve outcomes through collaboration, influence, and clear guidance.
• Confident, visible, and connecting personality: acts as a “spider in the web” linking all stakeholders.

• A 12-month contract (0,4 fte) with the prospect of a permanent contract based on mutual satisfaction.
• A gross monthly salary between €3546,00and €5538,00 (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week). 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
• 29 vacation days (based on full-time), four additional days off (Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day), and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
