As a Project Management Officer (PMO), you are the pivotal link who brings structure, maintains momentum in projects and supports project managers and teams in their work.

Project Management Officer

Our goal: The University Library carries out a wide range of projects that contribute to high‑quality services for students, teaching staff and researchers. In this position, you will primarily support two strategically important procurement projects: the procurement of digital examination software and the procurement of UM's Current Research Information System (CRIS).

Your colleagues: You will work closely with project managers and colleagues from the departments Education, Content & Support (EC&S) and Research Suppory and (RS). Organisationally, you will be part of the Staff Office. You will join a committed working environment in which collaboration, learning and continuous improvement are key.

What you will do

As a PMO, you are the connecting link in project execution. You monitor progress, provide structure and ensure clear communication. In doing so, you make an essential contribution to the quality, planning and lead time of our projects.

You will:

• provide administrative support within one or more projects, including document management, archiving and correspondence;
• plan, organise and take minutes during project meetings and other consultations;
• manage project calendars and, together with the project manager, monitor agreements, deadlines and milestones;
• prepare and maintain project plans, action lists, decision logs and progress reports;
• act as the first point of contact for stakeholders regarding planning and communication;
• support the preparation of presentations, memos and project reports;
• identify bottlenecks in project processes and proactively communicate these to the project manager.

What you bring

You are naturally curious and driven to continuously develop yourself. You actively absorb new knowledge and experiences and apply them effortlessly in your work. You take initiative and enjoy collaborating with colleagues, communicating in a clear and approachable way. Even when multiple projects are running simultaneously, you maintain a clear overview and set the right priorities. You work accurately and according to agreements, with an eye for detail that others might miss. At the same time, you handle confidential information with care and can always be relied upon for your integrity and accountability. In addition you have:

• HBO level of working and thinking, preferably in project management, public administration, business administration or a comparable field;
• preferably at least 2 years of experience with project‑supporting tasks in a project and/or service‑oriented environment;
• affinity with projects that support education and research;
• excellent command of Dutch; communicative skills in English are an advantage;
• strong digital skills and preferably experience with project management tools (such as Jira, MS Project, Planner or similar).

What we offer

At Maastricht University, you’ll work in an international, open, and engaged environment. We offer:

• A temporary contract for 12 months.
• A gross monthly salary between €3057,00and €3985,00 (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week). 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
• 29 vacation days (based on full-time), four additional days off (Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day), and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
