Scientific Information Specialist – (Bio)Medical Domain

Your colleagues: A motivated team within the University Library, working closely with FHML and MUMC to innovate and share knowledge.

As a Scientific Information Specialist, you play a key role in helping our academic community find, use, and manage scientific information effectively. You will be involved in:

• developing and delivering training courses, workshops and online modules in (digital) information skills in consultation with course and programme coordinators at FHML/MUMC;
• supervising students/PhDs/researchers in conducting systematic literature reviews;
• advising and analysing on the acquisition and termination of educational and research collections for FHML/MUMC, with a focus on Open Educational Resources;
• answering practical questions from users about the existing collection (including databases) and advising on the use of reference management tools;
• contributing to innovation projects in line with the needs of UM staff for new policies such as Digital & AI literacy, Open Science in Education en Open Educational Resources.

• Education: A completed master’s degree, preferably in the (bio)medical field.
• Experience: You bring up to two years of relevant experience and are eager to grow further in this role. And you have experience in developing and delivering education, ideally in digital and information skills.
• Research: Familiarity with literature research and relevant databases.
• Languages: You have an excellent command of both Dutch and English (C1 level).

What we offer

At Maastricht University, you’ll work in an international, open, and engaged environment. We offer:

• A one-year contract (0.8–1.0 FTE) with the prospect of a permanent position.
• A salary between €3546,- and €5538,- gross per month (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week), plus 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
• 29 vacation days (full-time), four additional days off, and the option to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
