Inspire the next generation of jazz musicians
Are you an internationally active jazz trumpet player with a passion for teaching? At Conservatorium Maastricht, you will help shape the artistic and professional development of talented students and contribute to an inspiring international learning environment where artistic excellence, collaboration, and innovation are at the heart of everything we do.
Due to the retirement of the current Main Subject Trumpet Teacher in September 2027, the Jazz Department is looking for a new colleague to join us.
We are looking for an inspiring and experienced teacher who has an established and excellent artistic career, a musician with an international reputation as a performer and teacher. A skilled communicator across cultures and a driven personality who takes initiative, ownership, and thinks creatively and solution-oriented. The candidate should possess teaching experience in higher music education and be regularly working with other internationally acclaimed musicians as a leader or sideman. Aside from his/her artistic profile, he/she should have a broad background in various styles of jazz and popular music.
Working at Zuyd means contributing to an ambitious university of applied sciences with strong regional roots and a clear vision for the future. With over 14,000 students and 30 research centres, we work every day on education and research that truly makes a difference.
We believe in everyone's unique talents. It starts with you, and we do it together. At Zuyd, you will find small-scale and personal education, an open culture, and a shared passion for development. It is no coincidence that we were named the Best Large University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands in the Keuzegids 2026.
Here, you will have the opportunity to grow and make an impact, for students, the professional field, and the region.
Conservatorium Maastricht is an internationally oriented conservatoire, deeply rooted in the region and connected to the global music community. Within the Jazz Department, education, artistic practice, research, and innovation come together in an inspiring and collaborative environment.
You will join a team of dedicated educators and active professionals who are passionate about helping students develop their own artistic voice. Collaboration, creativity, and personal attention are central to our approach, both within the department and across the wider conservatoire community.
