Specialist Tax Operations EMEA



The Global Tax Operations function leads and manages regional direct & indirect tax processes within the Global Finance Organization.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

For the Global Tax Operations function in Amsterdam, we are looking for a direct tax specialist covering the EMEA region. The activities of this role will predominately relate to corporate income tax, withholding taxes and transfer pricing. You will be part of a regional tax team consisting of indirect and direct tax analysts/specialists and report to the regional Manager Tax Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file Dutch income tax returns (fiscal unities as well as stand-alone entities) in collaboration with the Global Tax function
  • Managing and coordination of external service providers assisting in other EMEA jurisdictions, including budgets
  • Adequately consider local requirements, balanced with global standards
  • Manage and coordinate intercompany transactions (cost recharges, price simulations, margin reviews etc.) in alignment with the Global Tax function
  • Cooperate with internal stakeholders to complete the monthly closing and regular dashboard update
  • Liaise with external local authority to govern SABIC (tax) compliance in healthy manner in collaboration with Global Tax
  • Apply globally standardized processes, including intercompany price calculations, data collection & analysis, returns preparation/review & sub-mission, tax payments, tax controls and transfer pricing reporting in alignment with the Global Tax function
  • Provide Global Tax with litigation, audit & enquiries support
  • Execute effective end-to-end tax processes in collaboration with the Global Finance Organization and Global Tax
  • Assure and report quality of outputs (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency)
  • Drive resolution of operational issues
  • Perform control activities (ideally automated) in order to ensure compliance with SABIC control framework and other regulatory requirements
  • Identify tax risks & opportunities


  • Support further digitalization of tax compliance by providing operational insights into process requirements, performance and inefficiencies
  • Support implementation TP tooling or other local digitalization initiatives

People management

  • Align with internal and external stakeholders at the appropriate levels


  • University degree in tax, law or economics.
  • Attendance on post-graduate training programs (e.g. ‘NOB’) in areas such as international tax, tax accounting and/or transfer pricing is considered a plus.
  • Six plus years of experience in tax compliance
  • Experience in international tax environment
  • Basic understanding of Transfer Pricing methods is considered a big plus
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • Fluent in English & Dutch
  • Committed, hardworking and able to work independently in an international environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Sound knowledge of international tax law and specialist tax expertise in the Netherlands.
