Scientist – mRNA Process Development (Downstream)

As a Downstream Scientist within mRNA Process Development, you will focus on purification and scalable process design for large mRNA molecules. You contribute hands-on to chromatography and filtration development, supporting robust processes that can be transferred to GMP manufacturing.

What you will do

• Design and execute downstream purification experiments for mRNA processes.
• Develop and optimize chromatography steps, including affinity and ion exchange.
• Support tangential flow filtration (TFF) development and scale-up activities.
• Analyze process data and define improvements for yield, purity and robustness.
• Contribute to risk assessments and process characterization studies.
• Support technology transfer of downstream processes to GMP manufacturing.
• Document experimental results and prepare clear technical reports.

What we are looking for

• Degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in downstream process development for biomolecules.
• Experience with chromatography and filtration techniques, including TFF.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
• Practical laboratory skills and structured documentation approach.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to project teams.
