From Maastricht Train Station you can be in the heart of Brussels in little over an hour and in under 3 hours in Paris, and in little over 3 hours in London. The future Light Rail Maastricht – Hasselt reduces travel time to 26 minutes. This gains 35 minutes, also because of its connection to the Belgian bus network.  The connection Maastricht – Lanaken – Diepenbeek – Hasselt will be opened completely by the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011.  This means that every 30 minutes a Light Rail leaves from Maastricht to the town centre where there are lots of restaurants and trendy clothes stores.

South Limburg Light Rail Becomes Reality

Within a couple of years, Maastricht will be connected to a new Light Rail connection. Eventually the South Limburg Light Rail (Maastricht – Heerlen - Kerkrade) will be connected to a expanding Light Rail network in the Aachen region. It is also possible to establish a shuttle connection to Liège and her new TGV station.

Veolia Transport Limburg offers the three forms of public transport in Limburg: train, bus and taxi transport. These three means of transport have been integrated into one easily accessible transport system. The Netherlands Railways are responsible for the excellent Intercity connections to the rest of the Netherlands. Twice every hour there is an Intercity from Maastricht and Heerlen to the Randstad, via Roermond.  Venlo also has a direct Intercity connection to the Randstad every 30 minutes .
